This family session was more than a photo shoot, but I didn’t realize it until after I sent the pictures… Alanna is a co-worker of Kelly’s (my wife) and a past real estate client of mine. She is also the proud mother of three adventurous kids, Dominic, Sydney, and Sophie. Sydney and Sophie are twin girls and are absolutely adorable. Dominic is and will be the protective older brother. They are an amazing family.
Less than a year ago, Alanna lost her mother to cancer. We scheduled time together on a sunny Sunday morning to have family photos with her father, brother, husband, and children. Like most families of five, it was a crazy session… kids running around, Halloween costumes, playgrounds, and more. Kelly attended the session and witnessed the madness, too. After a few days, I sent them the pictures and a slideshow. Alanna was home with her son from school, sick with the flu, when she sent me the following minutes later:
Oh My God! I started crying as soon as the beginning of the song hit the first picture and I still have tears streaming down my face. This is such an amazing treasure for my family and we are so grateful for this. Know that this will touch my Dad and brother especially knowing the missing piece of our family… this is just so special. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
She sent me a follow up email a few days later:
I’m not sure the best way to say this, but………the impact this has on my family is much more than expected. This turned out to be a beautiful segment in our lives as we are all still going through the healing process of losing my Mom. My Dad called me afterwards and told me how broken up he was and how much he cried and went on with how overjoyed he was and so proud of his family. This was definitely more than a photo shoot for us… If you look in the clouds in the pictures of each of the kids in the field, you can see the image of angel wings. She was definitely with us that day.
Jumping off the rocks… Perfect 10 landing!
Dom dressed up in his Darth Vader costume and was quite scary. I told him to make a mean face for the right picture!
Twin sisters, Sydney (left) and Sophie (right). Their bumblebee and ladybug costumes were very cute! This is also why my wife is hoping for a girl next.
Look at Sophie’s big blue eyes.
It’s tough to be a true bumblebee without a pretty flower. This picture absolutely cracks me up.
A beautiful story.
