Today we drove around Fairfax looking for interesting locations to take senior portraits. Ali is super photogenic and could make any backdrop work… we found a parking lot of school buses, a gravel driveway, a loading dock surrounded by dumpsters, and more! We had a great day of shooting and beat the thunderstorms by only a few minutes. Ali, I hope you enjoy your senior portraits (I had a tough time narrowing it down for your sneak peek) and wish you luck next year in college!
From the football field to the yellow school bus…
This is one of my favorites of Ali’s serious face.
We found a 7-11 convenience store that had an ivy-covered wall on one side and a great brick wall on the other. Here are a few shots!
After the 7-11 adventure, we stepped it up a notch by taking pictures next to a loading dock behind the dumpsters. Who said there isn’t art in smelly places?
One of my all-time favorite pictures… Ali’s eyes are gorgeous and this picture shows true innocence.
Here are some more great pictures of Ali in her colorful shirt outfit in the gardens and sitting on gravel.
Lauren is graduating from Robinson High School this Spring. Along with friends and track teammates, Taylor and Cassie, Lauren joined me for a group Senior High School Portraits session. Here are a few portraits of Lauren including one of her getting grease on her jeans… I think it helps give the vintage look!
On the railroad tracks at Burke Lake.
Some shots down by the water.
Modeling poses.
By the bleachers at Robinson High School.
We caught the evening Sun right before it started to set. It gives a perfect golden glow.
Cassie is a Robinson High School senior with a vibrant personality. She is heading off to college next year and is considering Virginia Tech, James Madison, and Elon with hopes of becoming a school counselor or therapist. Cassie’s favorite part of high school has been being part of the Robinson Rams track team. Check out Cassie’s philosophy on life. She is insightful beyond her years.
A few shots on the pier at Burke Lake (until we got kicked out!).
A little known fact about Cassie is she’s afraid of geese… I have a classic “frightened” picture of the geese walking towards her.
A few shots by the train tracks. Cassie is always smiling or giggling. Always.
Run, Taylor! Run! Taylor looks like the All-American girl, but in reality she is the star and co-captain of the Robinson High School girls track team. We took shots around Burke Lake and Robinson High School where she’s graduating from this Spring. She said she’s going to miss her friends, but is counting down the days to graduation!
We think we know what the old red gears used to be, but will let you use your imagination. I’m curious of your best guess!
A few shots by the lake.
Bleachers made a great background, especially with bright colors like Taylor was wearing. FYI, Taylor also won the Senior Superlative “Best Laugh.” She was always smiling ear to ear . This is one of my favorite pictures of Taylor and would be great for a graduation announcement!
Another awesome shot of Taylor’s eyes.
A few shots in Taylor’s track uniform. Taylor is being heavily recruited to run track in college. She ran a 5:17 mile which is absolutely amazing. The girls on her high school track team call her the “11th member of the boys track team” because she runs as fast as they do! Taylor, I wish you luck in deciding on a college. (You should consider UVA even though you root for the Hokies).
Yesterday, I met with three friends, Amy, Dana, and Melissa for a group photo shoot. All three girls went to high school together and are back from Virginia Tech (Hokies) and James Madison University (Dukes) on break. Our photo session focused mainly on individual shots (in posts below), but we had to get a few of everyone together. Check out the slideshow below… music is “Paparazzi” by Lady Gaga!
Dana is in her freshman year at Virginia Tech and is majoring in public and urban affairs. She is also involved in leadership and the dance company at Tech. Dana is also a huge VT football fan and was sad she forgot her jersey for a few shots. Nonetheless, I think a handful of these would be a perfect holiday gift for her parents!
It was Dana’s idea to get a few shots in the tree… I thought they turned out great!
Melissa was back for Thanksgiving Break from James Madison University. She is a Tri-Delta and is majoring in Marketing and Anthropology at JMU. She said she was looking forward to home cooked meals and especially Thanksgiving turkey. We had a lot of fun at the photo shoot!
Melissa didn’t need any coaching or suggestions for poses… she’s a natural.
Her green eyes matched her sweater perfectly.
Melissa was always smiling and laughing. She did want a serious, “artistic photo,” so we used the street (and only had a few cars wonder what we were doing)…
Amy attends Virginia Tech (my rival college) where she is studying Environmental Policy and Spanish. Home for Thanksgiving Break, we got together with two of her friends for a photo session in Fairfax. She is excited to see family, friends from high school, and her doggie, but looks forward to heading back to college. Before heading to Blacksburg, she is stopping in Charlottesville to see UVA and VT play each other in football this Saturday. Unfortunately, I think VT is going to win. Here are a few photos from our session.
Doesn’t Amy have a great smile?!
A few shots in downtown Fairfax City.
There weren’t any leaves on the trees so we found some on the ground to add color!
